Still needs work

It's decent, but it still could do with a lot of improvement. Here's where I think it could improve:

- Length. The problem with these is they're pretty short for what they are. Personally I reckon these four could have been compressed down to 3 at most (the first was probably the shortest). CT isn't a short game, so be careful about having too many episodes. That said, Secret of Mana Theater or whatever has over 100 or something. That said, the bonus scene was a nice touch.

- Sound. Music loops aren't so hot, plus it's too quiet in places. Also, as I said in my last review, sound effects would really help out. Do some Google-searching for either CT or even FF sound effects packs. They'll improve it a lot, especially in the fight-scenes.

- File size. Not entirely sure how it's 4 megs, but I'd guess at it being the music. Try and compress it a bit (there's a tutorial on NG telling you how to do that). If it's not the music then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Other than that, it was fairly humourous and built up quite well, but I hope you take my suggestions into consideration for the next episode.

Thanks for all the tips! I'll be sure to implament as many as I can in the next Episode!

Best one since Piconjo Jam 20!

I voted 6.54321 on this because of the great <3 it shows. Excellent graphics, sound, some funny parts (Wadolf, heheh).

Much <3 to everyone involved in making this.

Enjoyable... but has a few flaws

Well, I liked it, I must say. The art style takes getting used to, but no biggie, it's your style after all. Sometimes the music didn't seem to fit the situation very well, and the voice-acting, while decent, sounded a bit off (Robotnik sounded drunk, heh. And I refuse to call him Eggman), and went out of sync towards the end.

There were some nice touches to this though. The Sonic fight was nicely done, even if it was in the off-sync part of the movie. Plus it's good that Captain N gets some recognition (only Captain SNES tops this so far, and that's because the only other Captain N fanworks are the horrible Mark Moore fics, and the self-indulgent crapfest, N-Fans) so I look forward to the next episode.

PS: Why Amy? Why not Knuckles? Eh, guess I'm biased seeing how I don't much like Amy...

Liked it

As the title says, I liked it. I'd probably suggest making the backgrounds a bit clearer, as they were almost black. Interesting take on CC and Resi Evil though.

Your best sprite work to date

I've seen all your sprite stuff, this comes out as the best one. Very glad you stuck with the same bittage for Megaman throughout on this one (one of my complaints about Bass' revenge was the fact that it kept switching between 16 and 32 bit Megaman) plus the voice acting, while a bit drowned out by the music at times, definitely added to the movie.

A lot of interesting plot points have come up, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they're carried out.

Good

Visually, it looks good, plus the music choice was nice. A bit wordy, but story beats senseless violence in my book. I gotta admit I'd have preferred the fight scene between Terra and Sabin to have been done the same as the tournament in episodes 3 & 4(?) though (I noticed that they were more of a real-time style, this seemed more turn-based). The spells were cool though.

Keep it up.

My votes coming in as always :)

I missed out on the Protection point for this... never mind, it's all just numbers on a site anyway. You improved over the third one with the extras alone. I noticed a few of the sprites weren't resized too great though (Keen was probably the most noticeable).

Today's Votes:

IFRIT: Megaman (Crono and Shadow have a good partnership, as seen in this episode)
RAMUH: Celes (Neclord must not leave, says the Suikoden fanboy-ness in me, and Robo could be interesting)

THE REPLACEMENT: Bomberman (Probably a lost cause if the majority vote for who I think they'll vote for, but I like Bomberman games)

Hell-Fire responds:

Megaman - celes
bomberman

would that person be Keen? jk. and neclord rules. thanks for votes and review

Great work on this. I've read up on the old clock/lock stuff (hey, I'm interested in stuff like that =P) and I liked the way this was done.

Only problems I saw was the odd typo here and there, plus there was a bit where someone was coughing in the background (don't know if that was intentional or not though).

Nice work overall.

LollypopClock responds:

The typos were the since I really rushed on the subtitles but i'm glad you still liked it!

Cool

Again, good work on this. The story's getting more and more intriguing with each episode. I noticed use of the icons like the music note above a character's head a la most RPGs (which makes sense as they're in an RPG world) and such again. And I also noticed on the lift that the beacon flashed. It must take a while to work on small details like that.

Also, nice work on providing a scene select and music select menu.

How long before the next part? Or isn't that certain yet?

Thanks for the review. It's nice you pointed out the thing about the music note. You could say that it fits for the RPG Continent, but I intend to use it for the next continent as well, and pretty much for the whole series because I find that that is the only way I can convey a character's emotions or thoughts. Since I am working with sprites and they don't display emotion among their pixelated faces (unless I edited them), I pretty much just use those emotion bubbles.

For the animated backgrounds, it isn't that much work if you're given the whole object to screen cap. It just a matter of taking screen caps of the necessary frames then making a gif out of that. It only takes minutes at the most. But for large bakgrounds like the golden city scape in all Episode 1 parts, that took several hours. Along with the train in episode 1 part 2&3. With the train all I had was the roof and the end of the train, I had to make the rest of it myself. So you could guess the time it took to make the frames for that since I was making the body of the train from scratch.

As for the next part, it isn't exactly certain. I have to rip and animate a lot of special effects plus rip some more backgrounds for the lab. It all depends on that alone, since I have most of the next episode all ready thought out. Hopefully, it won't be too long.

Not bad

A bit unfair to say "I'll make it longer if it gets good reviews" though. Still, this was quite enjoyable, and had some moments I laughed at. The backgrounds could use a bit more detail.

Otherwise, good work.

A thing with stuff.
