Very good

This is what Christmas is all about. Mindless violence and Weird Al. Screw that family BS. ¬_¬

That was great. Improved on the first one by a lot, I found it really funny. The game was also good if a bit easy.

PS: Am I allowed to gloat at you for finishing and submitting my Christmas flash in the space of 6 hours? =P

Better in some areas...

This is an improvement over the last one in a fair few areas (the only real redeemer of the last one being the intro) but it still feels somewhat forced.

Graphically it's an improvement, not many can deny that (well, as good as you'll get with 8 bit sprites anyway) and the use of effects added a bit more, but some of the voice work still feels forced. Ohmadon (sp?) in particular was the most noticeable. I didn't really feel as if I could hear someone struggling in anger to attack. I don't know what VAs do for practise, but maybe if he did a few lines before actually moving to the acting itself it might improve.

A lack of background music took away from it a bit too. If you compressed it enough, a short loop of the town music could fit in with no problem. I'm not sure if that's what brings the filesize up so drastically or what, but I'd hazard a guess it might be. Then again, what with the comic itself being extremely dialogue-heavy it'd account for a lot of audio files being in there.

The ending felt somewhat rushed too. Sort of seemed like the author was getting bored and decided to cut it short or something, I dunno. The extra scene and easter egg were OK, but the credits just felt tagged on at the end to quickly wrap it up. I found some of the outtakes in the earlier ones fairly amusing.

Overall it improved in some aspects but still has a way to go. Props for the nice effects (the White Mage destroying Black Mage scene in part 4, one of my favourite scenes, was poorly rendered in my opinion; this one sort of makes up for that) and for keeping the filesize below 5MB this time though.

Nice work

Could've used some background music maybe, but otherwise a pretty good flash. Here's to Sprite TT 6 too.

Believe me, it's far better without voices

I didn't think you'd be able to improve on the humour of the second one, but this had some great moments. I wouldn't worry about voice-acting, it can take away from humour sometimes. You need a replay button at the end though. Anyway, keep these up.

Short but sweet

I laughed. I can't stand work by either of them. Good character art but could've done with a background of some sort (nothing fancy, just something quick).

PS: Is it just me or does anyone else find it a bit suspicious that LF's work is somehow back in the top 50 after roughly a year?

eddsworld responds:

Its very suspicious!

Been a while since the last...

Sprites are looking a lot better now, and the humour manages to stay the same as always. One thing I'd like to see is some attention to detail on the backgrounds. For example, the fire in the dungeon would've looked better with a movie clip of the animated flame pasted over the top (it's about 4 frames total, I've ripped the flame sprite myself). Also, some of the music needs to be looped better (a sound editing program like Audacity will help with that).

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the two of you continue the series.

Clovis15 responds:

I will consider that in the future.

Finally get to see this finished.

The last fight with X and Agile was great. There's the problem with the replay button, but I told you about that over MSN, and you know about it anyway. Keep building your skills and your next one will be even better.

Decent

I was sort of expecting a large battle, but I guess you're going for humour. Voices were pretty good, but Zero's had a weird crack in some parts.

I shall be reading the comic now.

You have my interest

It's rare that I like sprite flashes with a more serious feel to them, particularly Mario ones (I'm probably one of the few who doesn't really care for RotMK for example) but this actually held my interest throughout. Despite the ninja thing, it actually felt Mario-esque (something a lot of the serious flash seem to miss).

Would've been nice to hear the odd Nintendo tune or two, but music was selected pretty well (I don't even mind that it's all Naruto, one of those animes that everyone hypes about to a point where I hate it even though I don't watch it). If Hyrule's the next step in this series I'd definitely like to hear some Minish Cap music in the next one though.

Top quality job.

I am the saviour!

Very nicely done, and your art and animation seems to improve with each flash. Magus remains Squaresoft's one true badass.

Only things I'd suggest is to try and work on your effects (Dark Matter looked blurry, I don't know if that was the intention or not) and try not to use so many extreme close-ups. Keep up the great work.

A thing with stuff.
